Meet Chris Grosse, NARBHA's Office of Individual & Family Affairs Coordinator

Chris found himself challenged with late-onset mental illness in 2002, which was further complicated by addiction.  He began his journey of recovery, which was difficult in the beginning but became easier with continued treatment and support.  Over time he was well enough to return to the workplace.  His personal recovery journey and experiences of working in the behavioral health field have given him a unique insight as to the struggles and victories of recovery.

When asked what has made the biggest difference in his recovery he says, "Working, even part time, has given me a rhythm, routine and focus to my life that otherwise would have been impossible to duplicate"

Chris is a facilitator for Arizona Dialogues and a NAMI In Our Own Voice presenter.  Chris is trained in Substance Abuse Recovery and is a Lay Leader and Trainer for the Healthy Living Institute, presented by the Stanford Chronic Disease Self Management Program. Chris received behavioral health advocacy training at the nationally-renowned Eric Gilbertson Institute in Phoenix.  He serves as a peer representative on statewide and NARBHA committees.

Chris has many years of working with families and youth in the California Public School System. He taught Special Education in all areas and with all ages for 15 years before coming to Flagstaff.  Chris holds a Masters Degree in Education Leadership from NAU, as well as various teaching credentials in California. His undergraduate training was in Business Administration from San Jose State University.

You can reach Chris at 928-226-6390 or chris.grosse@narbha.org
